An extraordinary string quartet is establishing itself on the concert stages and in the hearts of the audience: The young TenHagen Quartet is a complete family quartet consisting of four siblings. Having been awarded national and international prizes individually, they fascinate as a quartet through their unique communication, great passion and a wonderfully nuanced sound. Numerous concerts have already led them to the important musical centers of Germany and many other countries.
In 2011, the Münchner Merkur wrote: “The ensemble created an interpretation of highest standard. Thus, they inevitably pulled the listener into the music.” The encounter of four different musical personalities from one single family, the incomparable interplay of individuality and unity make their concerts unique, captivating and unforgettable.
In November 2011, the TenHagen Quartet was admitted into the patronage programme of the Forum Tiberius, in October 2011, the four siblings won the interpretation competition of the Alumni association of the Hochschule für Musik Detmold. At the Oberstdorfer Musiksommer 2011, they were awarded the chamber music prize of the festival. Born in Steinfurt/NRW, they studied individually in Berlin, Detmold, Düsseldorf, Köln, Salzburg and Boston. They received important impulses for their quartet playing from members of the Guarneri, Melos and Auryn Quartets as well as from Eberhard Feltz.
The TenHagen Quartet is engaged in the project “Rhapsody in School”, which was founded by the pianist Lars Vogt and which is committed to awakening young students’ enthusiasm for classical music. By giving lecture recitals and concerts with specific themes, the four siblings also combine music with other art forms.
